Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CHOOSE TO PARTICIPATE?

On your appointment day, you will

Be asked to review and sign the study-specific consent form.
Be asked to provide background information about yourself and to fill out some brief questionnaires.
Have a standard screen-film mammogram taken.
Have a digital mammogram taken.
Be asked to return in one year for a follow-up screen-film mammogram.

HOW MUCH EXTRA TIME WILL THIS TAKE?

We estimate that this research study will take an extra 30 minutes in addition to the regular screening mammography appointment time.

HOW LONG WILL I BE ENROLLED?

The DMIST research study lasts for approximately three years, including the one-year follow-up mammogram and the two to three years of follow-up phone contact.

HOW MUCH WILL THIS COST?

There will be no additional cost for the digital mammogram. No compensation for participation will be given.

HOW DO I ENROLL IN THIS STUDY?
